Shipping Manager
Description: We are seeking an energetic individual to join our production team at our factory location in Clifton, New Jersey. We specialize in printed materials, from posters and postcards to booklets and trade editions to complex, custom hardcover volumes.
Our clientele primarily consists of individuals and institutions within the creative industry, including visual artists, designers, publishers, universities, museums, and galleries. We offer fulfillment services alongside managing our own publishing label, Conveyor Editions.
Responsibilities: This position includes the oversight of all incoming and outgoing shipments including loading and unloading packages and constructing pallets for freight shipping. Daily tasks include creating and printing shipping labels, as well as picking and packing books for wholesale accounts while adhering to specific client specifications. To maintain an efficient factory workflow, the shipping manager must collaborate and communicate effectively with the extended production team as well as maintain a tidy and organized work station.
Qualifications: We are seeking a motivated and focused individual with strong attention to detail. Our ideal candidate must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Requirements:
Experience with basic power tools.
Must be able to lift boxes up to 60lbs.
Must be comfortable standing for an entire shift.
Working knowledge of both PC and Mac operating systems.
Reliable transportation to our location in Clifton, New Jersey.
Our factory is not easily accessible via public transit, living in-state and owning a car is highly recommended.
Preferred Skills (Training Available):
Forklift certification.
Experience with shipping and fulfillment.
Experience with inventory and sales platforms including: Shipstation, Finale Inventory, Amazon Vendor Central, Advantage, and Marketplace.

On Fridays, as part of the workday, we host informal, salon-style presentations that focus on artist books and publishing practices. The talks follow a show-and-tell format, covering creative practice, design strategies, and production techniques. They are primarily led by our production manager, with contributions from the publishing team, other team members, or occasional guest speakers.
Base Salary: $22.00/hr

Production Assistant
Description: We are looking for an energetic individual to join the production team at our factory where we specialize in creating printed materials, including: posters and postcards, booklets and pamphlets, softcover and trade editions, as well as custom and elaborate hardcover volumes. Our clients primarily consist of individuals and institutions in the creative industry, including photographers, designers, small publishers, galleries. In addition we make textbooks for universities, novels and nonfiction, and other text-based books.
Responsibilities: Due to the custom nature of the books we produce, daily tasks will vary. Responsibilities may include assembling book blocks for binding; hand collating book inserts; folding and tipping on endpapers; foil stamping book components; application of headbands; trimming books and packing boxes; and operating various book binding machinery.
Qualifications: Our ideal candidate is someone who has acute attention to detail, works well in both an individual and team setting, is motivated, focussed, and completes tasks in a timely manner. Bookbinding and warehouse experience is a plus, but not necessary. Working knowledge of both PC and Mac, the ability to learn quickly and understand basic print and bookbinding techniques used in the manufacturing process, and experience using basic power tools is desirable.
The factory is based in Clifton New Jersey and not easily accessible via public transit. We highly recommend that applicants have a car and live in New Jersey. In addition, applicants must be comfortable standing for an entire shift, be able to lift boxes up to 60lbs, and feel comfortable operating large-scale machinery.
Benefits Include: Paid Time Off (a minimum of 8 paid holidays and approx. 8 vacation days annually).

New!!! As part of the work day, Friday afternoons include an hour-long publisher or artist talk to learn about different techniques, design strategies and creative practices. Through these informal talks, we hope to encourage dialogue, build community, and share our collective enthusiasm about books. Our staff are welcome to sign up for a slot to share their publishing practice as well or request a publisher or artist they’d like to visit.
